Julia Blanck ’24 and Tate Brandon ‘24

Women’s basketball forward Julia Blanck ’24 is Liberty League’s Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, while men’s ice hockey goalie Tate Brandon ‘24 was named New England Hockey Conference Goaltender of the Year. The men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams also set 19 program records.

Announcements

Update on College budget

‌President Marc Conner, Vice President for Finance and Administration and Treasurer Daniel Konstalid, and other College administrators will present information about the College budget from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, March 6, on the second floor of Murray-Aikins Dining Hall. All faculty and staff are invited to attend in person or via Zoom. Zoom login information was sent via email yesterday. The presentation will include information about the budget for the 2024-25 fiscal year and other key elements of the College’s financial status and outlook, as well as ample opportunities for questions and feedback.

‌COVID-19 update 

‌The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regarding how people can protect themselves and others from respiratory illnesses, including COVID-19. Using this latest guidance, °”ÍűTV has updated some College policies accordingly and shared those updates in emails to students, staff, and faculty earlier this morning, March 6. The messages can also be found on the COVID-19 Campus Planning webpage.

‌Save the dates: Frederick Lawrence residency ‌â¶ÄŒ

‌°”ÍűTV is excited to welcome , secretary and CEO of the Phi Beta Kappa Society, to campus from March 19-21 for a residency on freedom of speech, expression, academic freedom, and related issues. A public lecture, "Free Speech on Campus in Challenging Times," will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20. Additional details along with information about other meetings, discussions, workshops, and opportunities to participate will be shared soon.The visit advances community conversations in support of speech and expression, which continues to be a strategic goal in °”ÍűTV’s Strategic Action Agenda this year.

‌Sustainable landscapes at °”ÍűTV 

‌The Sustainability Office has shared the Sustainable Landscape Plan, created to develop and advance the stormwater management and sustainable landscape goals of both the Campus Master Plan and the Campus Sustainability Plan. The plan will serve as a working guide for designing and managing projects that promote green infrastructure, native and diverse landscapes, and enhanced utilization of outdoor space for education and recreation.

‌President’s office hours ‌ ‌ ‌

‌President Conner will hold office hours from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday, April 4. All faculty, staff, and students are invited to request a 10-minute, in-person appointment. To register, please email presoff@skidmore.edu. Requests will be handled in the order that they are received.

‌°”ÍűTV's Musical Theater Opera Workshop and the Schenectady-Saratoga Symphony Orchestra will present Johann Strauss's “Die Fledermaus” at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, at the Zankel Music Center. ‌Visible mending workshop 

‌Join Karen Stevens ’88 at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, at the Tang for a , organized in conjunction with the exhibition “Yvette Molina: A Promise to the Leaves,” and learn how to use fabric remnants and embroidery supplies to “visibly mend” garments into pieces that are functional and beautiful.

‌Make Your Voice Heard °”ÍűTV Public Policy Prize competition ‌

‌Applications for the 2024 Make Your Voice Heard °”ÍűTV Public Policy Prize competition are due at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 12. The competition is an opportunity to engage with letter writing and grassroots campaigns about important public policy issues.

‌Swim lessons

‌The °”ÍűTV swimming and diving team is offering swimming lessons for children 4 years and older every Thursday, beginning March 28. Sign-ups will take place in person at the Williamson Sports Center lobby from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 7. Email Head Coach Jill Greenleaf for complete program information. ‌

Athletics News

°”ÍűTV athletic teams will head south over spring break for warm weather and competition. The softball team will play 10 games in central Florida. The baseball team has nine games in Fort Myers, Florida. The men’s lacrosse team will play two games in North Carolina and one in Maryland. The women’s tennis team has three matches in Texas. The women’s lacrosse team will play a game in New Jersey before finishing spring break with home games against Hartwick and Bard, March 15 and 16.
